About me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Minnesota. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with my undergraduate degree in 2003 and I graduated from Rutgers University with my Masters in Social Work in 2007. I have over 13 years of experience working as a therapist and program director.

I come from a multiethnic family (I am Puerto Rican and white) and I have created my own multiethnic family. I have personal experience with adoption both transnational and domestic (on the adoptee side).  I also have personal experience with co-parenting and blended families (on the parenting side). I am a queer cisgender woman. I am committed to racial and social justice and believe that part of the work in therapy is acknowledging the systems of oppression at play in our environment. I am committed to continuing to research, read, and remain curious and humble both in and out of session.

How I work

I practice from a feminist perspective and look at therapy as a collaboration (rather than a hierarchy). I trust your words and I want to work together to help you process your experiences, better understand your feelings, and make the best choices for yourself and those around you. You are the expert in your own life and it is my job to listen and support you, not to simply tell you what to do.

What I’m like as a therapist

My aim is to provide a space for you to feel safe. A space where you are important and your words are trusted. A space to be heard, with dignity and without judgement. Just because no one can go through this for you, doesn’t mean you need to do it alone. You don’t need to struggle in silence. Whether you are dealing with complex trauma or just feeling a little off; nobody’s problems are too big or too small for talk therapy.

Successful therapy relies on the trust and rapport between the client(s) and the therapist. I approach each session with empathy, curiosity, and a sincere desire to understand. Therefore I encourage you to reach out and schedule your complementary 20 minute consultation so that we can make sure that we are a good fit and answer any questions you may have.
